100 Questions: Day 3

Are there any skills or talents I’m not utilizing?

I love acting.  My first acting gig (it’s valid) was when I was 5 years old.  We were doing The Cat and The Fiddle and I was…..brace yourself…..the dish AND the spoon.  I remember being in that costume and when I heard, “….and the dish ran away with the spoon.” I took off running.  I may have even screamed as if I was scared.  All I remember was everyone in the audience was laughing and clapping for me.  In elementary school, I volunteered to be in every after-school play I could. It was fun and for a loner like I was, it was a way for people to see what I do with my dolls all the time; create characters and act them out.  Middle school and high school was all about improv and I found it to be extremely challenging, but fun.  Then college, I wrote scripts and plays and even co-starred in an indie film. Once I left college, I left acting behind me.

Acting allows me to put myself in someone else’s shoes and give them a voice.  I learn a lot about people not only by observing them, but pretending to be them as well.  Acting was something that I felt I was really good at and at one point in my life, passionate about.  Maybe I’ll find an adult acting class or take up improv again.  Who knows?  I may end up being Server no. 2 on the next season of Empire.
